The Greater Wilmington area includes beautiful New Castle County, Delaware, as well as southern Chester County, Pennsylvania. 

New Castle County is midway between New York City and Washington, D.C. and offers a wealth of historical and cultural attractions. Visit Rodney Square where the statue of Caesar Rodney on horseback commemorates his famous ride to Philadelphia to cast Delaware's vote for independence. Enjoy the beauty of Rockford Park. Climb the 132 steps to the top of historic Rockford Tower and take in the panormaic views. Visit the Delaware Art Museum or The Delaware Natural History Museum. Stroll the beautiful grounds of Winterthur, the estate home of Henry Francis du Pont, and see the world's premier collection of early American decorative arts. 

Just over the Delaware line is picturesque southern Chester County, Pennsylvania. Visit charming Kennett Square, the mushroom capital of the world. Dine at one of its many fine restaurants or visit some of the local art galleries. Just outside of Kennett is world-famous Longwood Gardens. The crowning jewel of the area, Longwood was purchased in 1906 by Pierre S. duPont and from 1907 to 1954 he personally designed most of what is seen and enjoyed today. Stroll the 1,050 acres of outdoor gardens alive with colorful flowers and tranquil ponds or marvel at the conservatory filled with never-ending bloom. Close by is Brandywine Battlefield Park. Tour the homes that once sheltered George Washington and General Lafayette during the Battle of the Brandywine. Situated on the bank of the Brandywine River is the Brandywine River Museum, internationally known for its unparalleled collection of works by three generations of Wyeths.
